Thankfully, thanks to the miracle of modern technology, the days of cluttering your dashboard with maps is behind us. Now, pretty much anyone who has access to an internet connection can find their way wherever they’re going no matter how remote that place may be with Google Maps.
If you’re using a computer, then using Google Maps for search engine optimization is relatively straight forward. First off, type “google maps” into the search engine of your choice, or just type into the address bar located towards the top of your internet browser. You will be greeted by a page with a map in the background, and a small search bar in the top left corner in jacksonville. From here, type in the name, or sort of store that you wish to find; for instance, if you want to find a liquor store, then type “liquor store”. Hitting enter will give you a list of different liquor stores in your area.
Scroll down until you come across the particular one you want. The address, telephone number, and hours should be listed the NAP is what SEO Companies call it, but this may vary between different stores. For directions, click the button labeled “directions”. From here you will be prompted to enter in your current location. After hitting enter, you may notice a small band of various symbols above the address bar – these tell Google Maps the means you will use to get to your destination, for instance, a car if you intend to drive or a bike if you intend to bike.
By default, SEO with Google Maps will choose the most efficient way, although you are of course free to change it. The right side of the screen will now display an overhead view of the route you intend to take, clearly highlighted with your destination marked with a small red pin. After choosing how you plan on getting to your destination, you will notice that there are several different routes to your goal below the search bar, each displaying the time it will take to get there. Clicking them gives you directions in a helpful list which you can then email or message to your cellular device, if you have one
Otherwise, you can print them, or write them down on a sheet of paper. If you are on a phone to begin with, then you can simply download the Google Maps app – the layout is almost exactly the same as the computer version. Additionally, if your phone supports it, you could use its built in voice recognition to give you directions.
For instance, you could hold down the home button on an iPhone and say “give me directions to a liquor store nearby”. In order for this method to work however, your phone will need to know your location, and some countries are not yet fully supported. Let’s all be grateful that we live in the modern, technological age, and that we have search engine optimization where getting headaches from using maps is a thing of the past!
