Travel to Valencia city

Located on the Gulf of Valencia on Spain’s eastern Mediterranean coast, Valencia is equidistant from Barcelona to its north or Madrid to its west, with the distance separating them being 350 kilometers. Apart from Spanish, the residents of this city also converse in Valenciano.

It is famous all over the world for its Las Fallas festival that takes place between the 12th and the 19th of March every year. Its mild winters and dry and warm summers make it a favorite amongst tourists, especially during winter.

Port Saplaya, Valencia, Spain

The north Valencian coast

The north coast of Valencia, the shoreline which is closest to the capital, has become a large expanse of sand, where tall towers of apartments and service infrastructures have been built, sharing the landscape with farmsteads and large market gardens (huertas). At the end of the Malvarrosa Beach lie the fields of Alboraya, which are used as chufa or earth almond plantations. It is from chufas that the refreshing drink, horchata, or orgeat, so typical of this area, is made. The marine sports complex of Port Saplaya enables the visitor to moor his sailing vessel on his doorstep. La Pobla de Farnals was a pioneer experiment in the development of the coastline. The visitor finds himself in a holiday city close to the capital, planned to enhance relaxation as he looks out onto the sea.

Costa Valencia: from Valencia to Cullera

Situated to the south of the capital, separated from the waters of the Mediterranean by a chain of dunes and pine groves, the lake of La Albufera was formed in the distant past from the deposit of sediments from the Rivers Turia and Júcar, which hemmed in this small inland sea of fresh water. The nature reserve measures 21,000 hectares, upon which 13 municipal districts stand. The lake’s diameter is six kilometres.
